Wilt Chamberlain is the greatest Warriors player of all-time

The Golden State Warriors were founded in 1946 and lately, they have been an exciting franchise to watch.  They have one of the greatest backcourts of all-time and have broken many recent records.  But a lot has transpired before this phenomenal era.  They only won three championships before and those were between the years 1940-1980.  They also had a lot of different players on their rosters but the greatest Warriors player of all-time, in my opinion, is Wilt Chamberlain.

Not only is Wilt Chamberlain the greatest Warriors player of all-time but he’s known as one of the most dominant players in NBA history.  Just like Bill Russell, he’s also one of the most decorated players, having broken numerous records (including the famous 100-point game).  He played for the Philadelphia/San Francisco Warriors (now known as the Golden State Warriors) for six seasons.

While playing for the Warriors, Chamberlain was a six-time All-Star who led the league in scoring every season he played for them and rebounds four straight seasons.  He named the All-NBA First Team four times and the All-NBA Second Team two times.  Chamberlain also won league MVP during the 1959-1960 season.

During his time with the Warriors, Wilt Chamberlain averaged 41.5 points per game, along with 25.1 rebounds a game, and 3.0 assists a game.  He was a good shooter, as well.  He shot 51% from the field and finished his six seasons there with a true shooting percentage of 53%.

As of right now, Chamberlain is the Warriors’ all-time leading scorer with 17,783 points.  He is also their second all-time leader in rebounds with 10,768 and their 25th all-time leader in assists with 1,303.

While with the Warriors, Wilt Chamberlain led them to the postseason four times but unfortunately could never help them win a ring.  Nonetheless, he averaged 34.6 points per game during those playoffs, along with 25.6 rebounds a game and 2.8 assists a game.  He shot 50% from the field while finishing with a combined true shooting percentage of 52%.

Currently, Chamberlain is the Warriors’ sixth all-time leader in points scored during the playoffs with a total of 1,246.  He is also their second all-time leader in rebounds with 922 and their 20th all-time leader in assists with 101.

As I stated in the first paragraph, the Warriors have had a lot of players on their rosters and some were even extremely talented.  Before Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, there were players like Chris Mullin, Nate Thurmond, and Rick Barry but Wilt Chamberlain will remain the greatest Warriors player of all-time for a while.
